Brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem seemingly worked two jobs for the longest time. By day they were regular guys working at utilities and, well, NASA - OK, so not quite normal. By night they transformed into creatives, building their own label, Carpet Company, via YouTube tutorials and a skate brand that wasn't really a skate brand. It was, and still is, a wonderfully imperfect process, drawing inspiration from their Egyptian heritage and a desire to avoid the predictable. They didn't really expect it to be successful.
"We didn't come from the industry. We didn't know anyone, and we had no design background," says Ayman. "We're extremely small in the grand scheme of things, but we're 1,000 times bigger than I ever imagined." Baltimore remains the brand's stronghold, where the brothers operate the business from a converted factory. Here they hand screen print boards and apparel with very special details. Their guest boards have become an iconic part of the brand identity, including Eric Koston, Jerry Hsu, Brian Anderson and Atiba Jefferson, to name a few!
